The Gospel According to Luke: God's Heart for the Humble

Date: Sunday, September 6, 2020

Series Description:

The book called Luke in the Bible, was written by a Gentile believer named Luke, who was a close associate of the Apostle Paul. He set out to carefully investigate the truth concerning Jesus Christ, using the eyewitness accounts of those who were with and knew Jesus and His ministry. His intent in writing this Gospel was so that his readers would know the truth regarding Jesus and what they have been taught concerning Him. It is our hope in studying this Gospel, that we too would better understand the truth concerning Jesus, so that we may better know Him and make Him known to others.

Sermon Description:

The message for this Sunday is titled "God's Heart for the Humble", and we look at Luke 14:1-24.  The Scripture passage deals with a lot of banquets, and at a certain point in the passage a man at a luncheon with many religious leaders said to Jesus, “Blessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!”  Though the statement is true, Jesus answered this man with a parable regarding who will be truly blessed to be invited and take part in the grand banquet in the kingdom of God.  There is much to learn about humility in the passage we will study together on this Sunday.
