Keiro Celebration Sunday

Date: Sunday, September 20, 2020

Sermon Description:

We will be honoring those in our church family who are 80 years old and older in this Sunday's worship service.  It is our Keiro Celebration Sunday.  Keiro means to honor or respect the aged, and Keiro No Hi (Respect for the Aged Day) is celebrated in Japan on the third Monday of September.  Long life is a blessing from God, and Scripture reminds us that it is a blessing bestowed on those who honor their father and mother; honor those older than them.

Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth. (Ephesians 6:2-3)

We are blessed to have so many in our church family who have been blessed with long life.  We truly thank God for these older brothers and sisters who continue to share their wonderful testimony of faith and love in Christ with us!

This Sunday's worship service will be a Joint Japanese and English Worship Service.  We will have some special praise that includes Gospel hula, a slideshow honoring our brothers and sisters who are 80 years old and older, and an encouraging message given by Pastor Okura (with translation by me).
