Being the Church: We Come Together for Discipleship

Date: Sunday, May 2, 2021

Series Description:

Discovering together how to be the church by the power of the Holy Spirit, growing up to the bridegroom of the church who is Jesus, all to the glory of the Father.

Sermon Description:

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. (2 Timothy 2:1-2)

We will be looking at the above verses together during this Sunday's worship service message. Here, we see that the Apostle Paul had a special and intimate relationship with Timothy, where he was like a spiritual father to him. Paul poured his life into Timothy, so that his faith may be strengthened in Christ. Paul had mentored and trained Timothy to be a church leader. So, here in these verses, we see Paul’s encouragement to Timothy to carry on the work of discipleship.

The message title for this Sunday's worship service is "We Come Together for Discipleship." We look at discipleship as being a key aspect of being the church. It is also good to be reminded that discipleship is a key part of parenting as well. To that end, I would like to remind you that during this Sunday's After Service Hangout time, we will have a child dedication ceremony. You may "attend" the ceremony via Zoom. I am hoping many of you will be able to be a part of the ceremony, as it will be a time for the church family to express our support of Nathan and Psalm in their commitment to bring their daughter up in the love and instruction of the Lord. So, please plan to be a part of this special time. Thank you.
