The Gospel According to Luke: Struggling to Understand Jesus

Date: Sunday, October 13, 2019

Series Description:

The book called Luke in the Bible, was written by a Gentile believer named Luke, who was a close associate of the Apostle Paul. He set out to carefully investigate the truth concerning Jesus Christ, using the eyewitness accounts of those who were with and knew Jesus and His ministry. His intent in writing this Gospel was so that his readers would know the truth regarding Jesus and what they have been taught concerning Him. It is our hope in studying this Gospel, that we too would better understand the truth concerning Jesus, so that we may better know Him and make Him known to others.

Sermon Description:

Even the most ardent Christian sometimes struggles with their faith. In today’s Scripture passage, we will see how even John the Baptist struggled to understand Jesus. Jesus said, "Blessed is he who does not take offense at Me." That is precisely the struggle we have in understanding Jesus, and was even more for the Jews of that day. Jesus did not seem to fit the mold of what they believed and expected of the Messiah. Depending on our own expectations of God’s Anointed One; Expected One, we might take offense at Jesus as well. Yet, God's wisdom will be proven by those who place their faith in Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God.
