Series Description: All authority is given to Jesus. He is our Lord. The Book of Hebrews goes into detail regarding Jesus' superiority over all things. HE is greater than all, and we need to affirm and live out this reality as His disciples.
Sermon Description: In chapter 3, the author of Hebrews directs his attention to the second pillar of Judaism, which is Moses, and shows that Jesus was greater or superior than Moses. Based on this, he then moves to his second warning to his readers: not to disobey God! The negative example that is given is the Israelites who could not enter into the physical rest that was promised them by God; they could not “settle” in the Promised Land, but had to wander around in the wilderness for 40 years because of their disobedience! Ultimately for us, we are to trust and obey God! When we do so, we will truly enjoy rest in Him; not just the eternal rest promised to us in heaven, but peaceful and joyful rest in our daily lives now.
